Oklahoma Rivers & Outfitters List
We try out as many of these outfitters as possible to make sure they
are still in business and still 'takin' care of business'.
It's a wet job, but we don't mind. We use this list to help
plan float trips in Oklahoma and other road trips in the Oklahoma
area. If you are an Oklahoma area canoe livery operator feel free to
email us your contact info, if we don't already have you listed on
this page.
Scroll down to the bottom of this page for some new information on
Texas paddling as well.
Outfitters for Flatwater and Whitewater Paddling in and around

Oklahoma Float Trip Tip:
Remember to call ahead and reserve your canoes and kayaks at least
one day in advance. Summer afternoon float trips on the Mt. Fork,
for example, often book up.

Outfitter:
Charlie Umstead 405-244-3284
Location: US 259 on the east, SH 3 on the south, SH 144
on the north
The
Glover River is Oklahoma's only untamed waterway (meaning no
dams block its course).
Secluded
and un-commercialized, the Glover River is ideal for
veteran floaters with a knowledge of the local topography
and experience with unpredictable waters.
When
the river is low, rocks, logs, and low falls make for a
difficult float. When the river is up, the journey is
definitely not for first-timers.

Row, Kayak or Dragon Boat on the Oklahoma
River in OKC
The City of OKC recently renamed part of
the
North Canadian River as "The Oklahoma River". This
short section of river is the new hot spot for Olympic
Flatwater Paddling trials and several major wakeboarding
tournaments.
The crown jewel of the new Oklahoma River
is the breathtakingly lovely Chesapeake Boathouse. The
design of the Chesapeake Boathouse represents a sleek rowing
shell with translucent polycarbonate walls providing a
dramatic nighttime image of the building “floating” above
the river.
Chesapeake Boathouse members have access to their fleet of kayaks during open rowing times, and even if you're not a member, you can rent a kayak through a program sponsored by Oklahoma City University.
Kayak rentals are available March through October during daylight hours, Monday– Saturday, and Sunday afternoons. The last rental of the day is one hour before boathouse closing; check the Chesapeake Boathouse calendar for current hours.
Kayak rental cost is $10 per hour for a single, $15 for a double. No reservation required.
They also offer a full complement of kayaking lessons and trips. Follow the links above to learn more, or email the Chesapeake Boathouse at
info@chesapeakeboathouse.org for personal assistance
and
visit their website for more details about their programs
for paddlers.
